We are filled with grief and regret to announce that the initiator and donor of the "Liu Huan Original Music Public Welfare Fund", a musician who integrates music education, music creation, and singing, our most beloved teacher Liu Huan, passed away in Shanghai at 9:52 am on September 25, 2026, with the company of his family. He was 63 years old.
Liu Huan studied French literature at the Beijing Institute of International Relations, but he "neglected his job" and stood out in the 1985 Capital University English and French Song Competition, making his career in music unstoppable. He has created and performed many popular music works, but in fact, being a university teacher is his main job. He founded and taught "History of Western Classical Music" at the University of International Business and Economics. Liu Huan believes in "teaching and learning grow together" and "kung fu lies outside of poetry". He encourages students to learn seemingly "useless" knowledge, cultivate their character, cultivate their emotions, and improve their aesthetics. He has stood firm on one podium for thirty years and is deeply loved by his students.
In 2014, Liu Huan initiated and planned the original music reality show "SING MY SONG" and served as a mentor; In 2019, Liu Huan donated funds in her personal name and jointly established the "Liu Huan Original Music Public Welfare Fund" with the Mango V Fund of Hunan Radio and Television Group (Taiwan) to cheer for Chinese original music and support China's intelligent manufacturing.
Liu Huan's original music works and the "Liu Huan Original Music Public Welfare Fund" are valuable assets he left to music enthusiasts and Chinese original musicians. His departure is a significant loss for Chinese original popular music.
