From a steelworker to a draftsman
In 1994, Guo Chunguang graduated from Xianggang Technical School and entered the continuous casting workshop of Xianggang Second Steelmaking Plant as a steelworker. At work, he followed his master to learn the operation movements, organized study notes, and eventually became the first student among that group to learn how to independently pour steel.
In 2000, five people were selected from the Second Steelmaking Plant to form a project team, with Guo Chunguang among them. During the three months of construction, he had ample time to understand a casting machine, starting from drawing design, to civil construction, pipeline laying, equipment installation, program setting, and finally to equipment monotony and commissioning.
One thing that left a deep impression on him was the improvement of the cover plate for the continuous casting ladle. At that time, he borrowed the blueprint of the original intermediate package cover plate and used his rest days to draw the renovation plan at home one by one. After submitting the renovation plan to the equipment room, the equipment factory director pointed out that some symbols and technical requirements on the plan were not clear. Upon receiving the returned renovation drawings, he was not discouraged and spent a week redrawing the wax paper drawings. After the factory director saw it, he immediately arranged for the machine repair shop to process it according to the drawing. After this incident, his confidence was high, so he renovated the equipment for protecting the slag and the water outlet baking device, made corresponding drawings, and left the renovated drawings in the equipment archive room. At this point, the name "Guo Chunguang" has been added to the drawing team.
In 2006, Xianggang decided to dismantle the No. 3 casting machine and rebuild a faster casting machine on site. Guo Chunguang has been assigned to be responsible for the maintenance and renovation of the casting machine equipment. The dismantling and reconstruction of the casting machine took 56 days to complete. He basically ate and slept in the factory, and did not go home for nearly ten days at the longest. In the learning and communication with automation personnel, he began to interpret the content of programmable controllers for casting machines, gradually understanding the thinking of casting machine automation personnel. Leading the team to repeatedly break records
In 2009, Guo Chunguang was transferred to Yangchun New Steel and took on the responsibilities of establishing a continuous casting workshop and employee training. He also oversaw the planning, design, and construction of three continuous casting machines in the steel plant. He focuses on three issues: personnel training, equipment installation, and smooth production. He worked hard to do a good job in personnel training, helping new employees quickly master the basic operational skills of continuous casting. Today, the 127 technical school students trained have become the talent foundation of the company.
In the construction of the casting machine, he insists on a dual approach of reviewing drawings and ensuring construction quality, not ignoring any small errors, and conscientiously managing the installation quality of the casting machine on site. During that period of reviewing drawings and supervising installation, he identified over 100 design and construction issues.
During the critical period when the casting machine was put into operation, he led the new continuous casting employees to repeatedly debug the casting machine equipment, verify technical parameters, simulate casting, and organize a qualified casting team. In 2010, the continuous casting heat load test was successfully achieved. At that time, the staff of MCC Southern Design Institute said, 'When designing this casting machine, the pulling speed reached 3.2m/min, but they were worried that it could not be achieved.'. But now, with so many design changes, the pulling speed has reached 3.5m/min, which even we ourselves did not expect. ”
Subsequently, Guo Chunguang and his team went out to learn advanced experience and completed the upgrade and transformation of the continuous casting machine crystallizer copper tube in 9 months. The double water jacket crystallizer copper tube obtained a patent and was successfully applied, greatly improving the production efficiency of small billet continuous casting.
Subsequently, he and his team collaborated with MCC Continuous Casting and Wuhan Fangyuan Protection Slag Factory to jointly develop patented high-efficiency crystallizer technology and high pulling speed protection slag, breaking through the technical barriers of continuous casting high pulling speed technology and passing high pulling speed experiments twice in a row, breaking their own records time and time again.
