On July 10th, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology held a press conference on the "Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) 2026 Digital and Artificial Intelligence Ministerial Meeting and Digital Week related activities". Song Xianrong, Director of the International Data Governance Cooperation Department of the National Data Administration, stated that the series of activities in the data field during the APEC Digital Week in 2026 will expand the depth and breadth of cooperation in the APEC data field, and is expected to achieve multiple results. According to reports, based on current registrations and feedback from various parties, the government, industry, academia, and research communities in various economies are highly concerned about the issue of "data promoting growth". Over 200 foreign registered guests and nearly 100 domestic and foreign enterprises have registered to participate in the special seminar, including nearly 50 Fortune Global 500 companies, well-known multinational corporations, and representative data and artificial intelligence enterprises. Song Xianrong stated that it is expected that this series of activities will achieve three results. Firstly, share the practical achievements of digital China construction and data development and utilization. Through various forms such as policy sharing, case exchange, and on-site visits, China will comprehensively showcase its cutting-edge exploration and practical experience in data infrastructure system construction, data infrastructure layout construction, data development and utilization, scenario application landing, and data element empowerment of artificial intelligence innovation and development to APEC economies, promoting mutual learning and reference. Secondly, expand the depth and breadth of cooperation in the APEC data field. Currently, APEC has carried out effective cooperation in the field of data, focusing on areas such as data privacy protection and cross-border data flow. This series of activities will further enrich the concept of "data promotes growth", advocate for economies to pay more attention to new cooperation directions such as data value release, data empowerment of economic growth, and modulus resonance innovation, and promote more extensive and pragmatic exchanges and cooperation among economies around data capacity building, traditional industry upgrading, and experience case sharing. Thirdly, strengthen the implementation of more cooperation achievements among APEC economies. By conducting on-site inspections and exchanges, we aim to enhance mutual trust in data cooperation among economies and create a collaborative atmosphere of consultation, co construction, and sharing. Build a communication and docking platform for enterprises, institutions, etc., to promote efficient conversion of cooperation intentions into practical results. Through effective industrial policy practices, vivid cases, and concrete scenarios, we strive to make all parties present with confusion and problems, and take solutions with them.
