In 2018, a major ice disaster occurred in northern Guangdong, causing widespread icing on transmission lines in the high-altitude mountainous areas. The steep terrain made manual de icing both inefficient and dangerous, putting tens of thousands of people's heating and electricity supply at risk. In the current dangerous situation, Su Chao quickly formed a Party member assault team and launched a charge towards unmanned aerial vehicle de icing technology. For five whole days and nights, he stationed himself in the deep mountains to observe the laws of ice cover, worked all night to draw and optimize the structure, repeatedly polished and vibrated the de icing device, and overcame the technical difficulties of unstable drone flight in low-temperature environments. After the new equipment was put into practical use, the accumulated ice on the power lines was successfully cleared, the security line of the power grid was guarded, large-scale power outages were avoided, and the winter lights of the masses were preserved. Su Chao was also awarded the title of "China Southern Power Grid Anti icing and Anti icing exemplary individual".

In 2025, Typhoon Huajiasha swept through southern Guangdong, causing damage to multiple power transmission facilities. Upon hearing the order, Su Chao immediately took action and led the team to complete various technical adaptation solutions for unmanned aerial vehicles, providing full process low altitude operation technical support for cross regional party member air rescue and assault teams. The team has completed a detailed aerial inspection of over 1200 kilometers of disaster affected routes, accurately identifying every potential fault. This new model of aerial intelligent disaster detection has completely reshaped the logic of power grid disaster prevention and relief work, promoting a leapfrog transformation of the power emergency system from passive disposal of post disaster situations to a modern emergency new pattern of risk prediction, aerial full area rapid detection, and precise and efficient disposal.

Faced with the long-standing industry pain points of short endurance, weak load capacity, and lack of research and development platforms in domestic low altitude equipment, Su Chao, as the captain of the Party member assault team, shoulders the heavy responsibility of tackling them. He worked tirelessly to connect with research institutes and led the establishment of the Guangdong Provincial Electric Power Low altitude Economic Engineering Technology Research Center. To break through the technological bottleneck, he led the team to study day and night, innovate the three rotor tail rudder control configuration, and developed the world's first electric multi rotor inspection drone with a range of 100 minutes, reducing inspection costs by 70%. The team has successively developed 150kg electric and 300kg oil powered heavy-duty unmanned aerial vehicles, filling the gaps in domestic high load low altitude transportation equipment. At the same time, he built the "Shunyifei" low altitude operation platform, opened up military civilian airspace coordination channels, linked universities to apply for national level scientific research projects, and accelerated the industrialization of low altitude power equipment in Guangdong.

In the second half of last year, the project was blocked in the mountains. The project is located in deep mountains, with rugged mountain roads and extremely difficult transportation of building materials. Traditional vehicle transportation has a long cycle and causes significant ecological damage.
