Economic Observation Network According to CCTV Finance, on September 22, the China Electricity Council released a report showing that by 2025, China's electrification rate will be about 29.5%, an increase of 1.4 percentage points from the previous year, and the electrification rate has already exceeded that of major economies in Europe and America.

The so-called electrification rate refers to the proportion of electrical energy to terminal energy consumption. The high electrification rate not only reflects the continuous enhancement of China's power supply capacity, but also the accelerated pace of China's energy green and low-carbon transformation. For example, industries such as computing power facilities, artificial intelligence, new energy vehicles, and smart home appliances all rely on electricity as their main form of energy supply. The development and growth of these new industries, new formats, and new equipment will also be intuitively reflected in the increase of electrification rate.

In addition, electricity, as the largest terminal energy source in China, accounts for 3.1 percentage points higher than coal, the second largest energy source in terminal energy consumption. China has become the main driving force behind the global electrification process, contributing over 80% to the growth of the world's electrification rate since 2015. From a regional perspective, the electrification rates of the Yangtze River Delta region, the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area, and the Chengdu Chongqing Economic Circle have reached approximately 34.6%, 41.1%, and 30.2%, respectively, an increase of 1.5, 1.2, and 1.0 percentage points from the previous year. Among them, the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area has maintained the first place in the region for many consecutive years, and the electrification rate of the Chengdu Chongqing Economic Circle has exceeded 30% for the first time.

Yang Kun, Executive Vice Chairman of the China Electricity Council, stated that factors such as accelerated transformation of the manufacturing industry, increased penetration of new energy vehicles, and thriving development of the computing power industry will effectively drive up China's electrification rate. It is expected that China's electrification rate will reach 35% by 2030, ranking at the forefront of the world.
