On September 23, Caixin News Agency reported that the first natural gas pipeline network around the island in China, the Hainan Pipeline Network, has transported over 35 billion cubic meters of gas, providing solid support for the construction of Hainan Free Trade Port and Clean Energy Island. The total length of the Hainan Island network is 899 kilometers, consisting of four backbone pipelines: Sanya Dongfang, Dongfang Yangpu Haikou, Haikou Wenchang, and Wenchang Qionghai Sanya. It has 14 process stations and 42 valve chambers, passing through 14 cities and counties including Haikou, Sanya, Danzhou, Dongfang, Wenchang, and Qionghai, benefiting more than 10 million people. It mainly supplies gas to gas power plants, industrial users, and urban gas customers. As of now, the Hainan Island Network has transported over 35 billion cubic meters of clean natural gas, equivalent to approximately 46.6 million tons of coal that can be replaced. This is equivalent to reducing dust emissions by over 25.4 million tons and carbon dioxide emissions by over 51.2 million tons, injecting strong momentum into the green and low-carbon development of Hainan Free Trade Port.
