Economic Observation Network According to the CCTV News client, it was learned today (31st) from China National Nuclear Corporation that the second unit of the "Super Carbon One" supercritical carbon dioxide waste heat power generation project located in Liupanshui, Guizhou has successfully achieved grid connected power generation, marking the completion of the world's first demonstration project of supercritical carbon dioxide waste heat power generation technology. After both units are put into operation, "Super Carbon One" will form a stable installed capacity of 30 megawatts.
Supercritical carbon dioxide waste heat power generation is the process of converting high-temperature waste heat from factories into electricity by circulating supercritical carbon dioxide to drive a generator. Simply put, it is called "waste heat to electricity conversion".
It is reported that the first unit of the "Super Carbon-1" global demonstration project was officially put into commercial operation on December 20, 2025. As of now, it has been running stably for more than 5 months, and all performance indicators have reached or exceeded the design standards. The reliability of the core equipment and system stability have withstood long-term practical tests under multiple working conditions. The second unit has been successfully connected to the grid for power generation, and the "Super Carbon One" project is about to enter formal commercial operation.
