Speech/Writing Associate Professor Shen Yifei of Fudan University made a potentially unpleasant but truthful comment to a parent of a primary school student during a live broadcast, which sparked dissatisfaction among the parent and led to various reports from the other party. After two months of investigation, Fudan University recently announced its conclusion that Shen Yifei's comments did not exceed any compliance boundaries, which can be considered as giving her justice. However, the consumption also occurred: in these two months, Shen Yifei wrote explanations and cooperated with investigations, interrupting the normal pace of teaching and research and work - reporting zero cost, but the reported person had to invest time and effort.
Shen Yifei's experience has aroused strong resonance among the teacher community. In the comments, many teachers admitted that they are also trapped in the complaints of growing up and down at home. The situation of frontline teachers is different from that of Shen Yifei: Shen Yifei was reported during a public live broadcast and only had a chance encounter with his parents; The connection between frontline teachers, parents, and students is closer and more long-term. Parents' unfounded complaints are like boomerangs, often ultimately harming the interests of their own children. Teachers are exhausted from dealing with complaints, which inevitably drains their teaching enthusiasm; In order to avoid being complained about, many teachers also choose a more conservative and defensive posture - or restrict student activities to avoid risks, or remain silent when they should be disciplined to avoid being "picked up" by parents.
Reporting and complaining should be one of the ways for parents and students to protect their own rights and supervise school teaching. However, if they are initiated too casually and lack legitimate reasons, it is an abuse of their rights, which will ultimately lead to the loss of all parties involved. In fact, such unfounded reports are already eroding the foundation of the education ecosystem. According to a media investigation, a grassroots education bureau in Southwest China received 128 reports against teachers within 8 months, and only 7 of them were found to be basically true after verification. And parents' demands are often difficult to reconcile: some complain about too much homework, while others complain about too little homework; Some people think the teacher is too strict, while others think it's too lax.
Children in the upper grades of elementary school are no longer ignorant of this kind of home school game. A fifth grade student complained at home that there were fewer chicken legs for school lunch, reportedly because "some parents complained about eating too much chicken"; In physical education class, a classmate sprained their foot while playing basketball, and the children subconsciously worry about whether they will not be allowed to play basketball in the future. When adults treat complaints as a readily available weapon, children often learn not rational rights protection, but a survival logic that can cause trouble in everything. From this perspective, frequent complaints are a very bad example of education. Children who have been influenced and grown up are more likely to choose confrontation over communication when facing conflicts in the future.
If you look closely at the various complaints, you will also find that there is a hidden concern among parents about their children's every detail, but this concern is often excessive. Take Shen Yifei, the parent of Lianmai, for example. He believes that when his child experiences "bullying", it is actually just a few instances of classmates pushing and shoving each other when they don't share snacks and play around. For normal social friction between children, parents have no need to personally "step down"; Excessive intervention can actually deprive children of the opportunity to solve problems independently. For this generation of children, they are watched too much and lack the experience of free growth.
Fudan University has determined through investigation that Shen Yifei is not responsible, and this pragmatic and boundary guarding approach is worthy of praise. Coincidentally, recently the Education Bureau of Jinan City, Shandong Province, responded to the "Proposal on Returning Teacher Management Rights and Resolving Disciplinary Difficulties" issued by the Municipal People's Congress, clarifying that the next step will be to distinguish between normal educational behavior and deviant behavior. Schools should take on the role of "first responsible persons" and actively provide legal and psychological support for teachers, rather than simply "sacrificing teachers for harmony", so that teachers can "dare to manage". This response has attracted a lot of attention precisely because it directly points to the most common pain point in current conflicts between families and schools - disputes. In order to quickly resolve them, schools often choose to settle disputes and even push teachers out of the situation. For teachers, this is equivalent to a second injury.
Ultimately, schools and education departments should have the courage to take responsibility and take a step forward; Parents should also take a step back from paying attention to every detail, handle conflicts rationally, and not complain at all. Only in this way can teachers dare to manage, teach, and let go, ultimately benefiting the children.

In the live broadcast of the 2026 Haier Hope Primary School Children's Day Science and Technology Experience Day, Mei Feng, Chairman of the China Youth Foundation, praised Haier: cooperating with Haier for public welfare can be divided into three levels: public donation, resource linkage, and value co creation. Haier adheres to long termism and a sense of social responsibility, making public welfare projects more in-depth and effective.
