In recent years, the competition in the automotive industry has been fierce, and some production enterprises have followed suit by launching new products with insufficient testing and verification. The document issued this time focuses on three directions:
This is not the first time this year that regulatory authorities have put forward requirements for automotive safety. Since the beginning of this year, multiple standards and regulatory measures have been introduced one after another, covering multiple aspects of automotive products from design, testing to production and use, and an automotive safety net is accelerating its weaving.
Firstly, establish strict rules for the "door handle".On January 28th, the mandatory national standard "Safety Technical Requirements for Car Door Handle" (GB 48001-2026) was approved and released, which specifies the safety hazards of hidden door handles in scenarios such as power outages and collisions; After the vehicle is powered off, the mechanical release function of the door handle must be able to work properly; The safety signs on the door handles must be clearly visible at the corresponding passenger positions. The draft for soliciting opinions once again explicitly prohibits the use of fully concealed door handles.
Secondly, there is the first mandatory national standard for assisted driving. In June, the "Safety Requirements for Intelligent Connected Vehicle Combined Driving Assistance Systems" (GB 47955-2026) was approved and released, which sets a safety bottom line for L2 level combined driving assistance and proposes safety requirements for basic single lane, basic multi lane, and navigation driving assistance systems in terms of human-computer interaction, driver monitoring, data recording, etc. It will be implemented from January 1, 2027.
Thirdly, there is a clear admission baseline for advanced autonomous driving. In July, China's first mandatory national standard for L3 and L4 automatic driving, Safety Requirements for Intelligent Connected Vehicle auto drive system (GB 44721-2026), was released and will be implemented from July 1, 2027.
Fourthly, the "small blue light" has been included in the scope of regulation.Starting from the end of July, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology will strictly review the declaration of automotive product announcements. Due to the blue color not meeting the current standards for exterior lighting of automobiles, newly declared passenger cars are not allowed to be equipped with original factory assisted driving "small blue lights", and existing vehicles are temporarily not subject to mandatory disposal.
Fifthly, conduct production consistency checks.Concentrate on rectifying four aspects of production consistency, reliability, durability, and new technology testing and verification of road motor vehicle products nationwide. Strictly prevent the risk assessment of "sending one set for inspection and mass producing another set", whether the risk assessment of innovative design is sufficient, and whether there are product defects, fatigue failures, etc. in new materials and structures.
The series of standards and measures introduced this year, from door handles and combined driving assistance to production consistency checks and R&D testing and verification, have a clear direction: innovation can be fast, but testing and verification must be sufficient, and the bottom line of automotive safety must be firmly maintained.
