For traditional industries such as energy and chemical engineering, glass and building materials, sustainable development is not a single environmental issue, but a systematic proposition that runs through safety production, resource utilization, operational efficiency, product quality, and corporate governance. Against the backdrop of industrial restructuring and continuous promotion of green and low-carbon transformation, how to improve the management efficiency of traditional industries through digital technology, and how to reduce resource and energy consumption while reducing costs and increasing efficiency, are becoming important issues for enterprises to build long-term competitiveness.

Zhongrong Xinda Group Co., Ltd. is exploring the practical path of sustainable development of traditional industries through the integration of digitalization and greening. As a private enterprise with energy, chemical, and glass building materials as its leading industries, Zhongrong Xinda is headquartered in Qingdao, Shandong Province. Its production bases are distributed in Juye, Heze, Zouping, Binzhou, and other places, and it has subordinate production enterprises such as Tiexiong Xinsha, Tiexiong Metallurgy, and Jurun Building Materials. Since 2026, the group has regarded digital transformation as an important measure to cultivate new quality productivity, implemented the action of digital transformation, and further extended digital management to the smallest operational units such as equipment, positions, and parameters.

From "civil defense" to "technical defense", safety management is shifting towards proactive prevention

The process industries such as coking and glass have the characteristics of strong production continuity, a large number of equipment, high energy consumption, and high requirements for safety and environmental protection. For such enterprises, safety management is not only related to production stability, but also directly affects the long-term operation and sustainable development capabilities of the enterprise.

In response to the problems of disconnection between information systems and on-site management in the past, as well as reliance on manual equipment inspection, Zhongrong Xinda Construction Group and the enterprise's two-level digital command system have integrated management elements such as production, safety, environmental protection, and personnel into an online platform.

At present, the entire group has deployed 8738 work card alarm points to monitor key production parameters such as temperature, pressure, vibration, and gas concentration in real time. Among them, 1965 valid alarm messages can be directly pushed to the mobile terminals of middle and senior management personnel, and synchronously trigger sound and light alarms in the central control room.

The intervention of digital systems has gradually shifted enterprise security management from relying on manual inspections to proactive system warnings, and the response time for abnormal handling has been compressed to seconds. The application of digital means such as personnel positioning, electronic fences, and facial access control has further strengthened personnel management and risk prevention in production sites.

From "experience management" to "data decision-making", operational efficiency has become another pivot for sustainable development

Sustainable development is not only reflected in the level of resources and environment, but also in whether enterprises can establish more efficient, transparent, and refined management mechanisms. Zhongrong Xinda promotes the unified collection of production, warehousing, procurement, finance and other data, connects business and financial data links, and integrates budget execution, fund occupation, cost drivers and other aspects into online management, transforming financial management from post accounting to process control.

In terms of inventory management, the group has sorted out the underlying data such as equipment, positions, energy consumption, materials, etc., achieved digitalization of inventory assets, and established a mechanism for revitalizing stagnant inventory within a limited period of time, identifying capital occupation and inventory pressure drop space through data.

In terms of equipment management, relying on digital platforms to achieve automatic distribution, tracking, and assessment of inspection, lubrication, and maintenance work orders, and implementing graded operation and maintenance of equipment according to their importance. Taking Tiexiong Xinsha as an example, 11409 pieces of equipment have been digitally registered, and the responsibility for operation and maintenance has been further implemented to specific positions. At the same time, the intelligent diagnostic platform provides early warning of equipment hazards, promoting the transformation of equipment maintenance from passive disposal after faults occur to pre fault intervention.

In this process, digitization not only serves the function of "connecting information", but also becomes an important tool for enterprises to reduce costs, increase efficiency, and make business decisions.

Green manufacturing has shifted from concepts to specific equipment, indicators, and production processes.

For high energy consuming process industries, energy utilization efficiency is one of the important indicators to measure the sustainable development capability of enterprises. Zhongrong Xinjiang will further refine energy consumption management to specific equipment and production processes, implement real-time monitoring and separate metering of water, electricity, gas, and high energy consuming equipment, and dynamically adjust production parameters in conjunction with the production process, so that energy-saving measures can be implemented on specific equipment.

Through digital energy consumption control and energy-saving transformation, Jurun Building Materials saved 2100 tons of standard coal in the first half of the year, and the comprehensive energy consumption per unit product decreased to 10.83 kilograms of standard coal per heavy box, a year-on-year decrease of 1.61%.

At the same time, the recycling of waste heat resources has become an important practice for the green development of enterprises. The Jurun Building Materials Waste Heat Power Generation Project has been connected to the grid and is using the waste heat from glass melting furnace flue gas for power generation. The installed capacity is 6 megawatts and the annual power generation is about 48 million kilowatt hours, which can meet about 20% of the electricity demand in the factory area. It saves about 15000 tons of standard coal and reduces carbon dioxide emissions by about 40000 tons annually.

In terms of environmental governance, Tiexiong Xinsha has put into use humidification ash unloaders to achieve fully enclosed and dust-free ash unloading processes, and continues to promote technological upgrades such as gas desulfurization and salt refining; Jurun Building Materials and Tiexiong Xinsha have passed the provincial "two highs" inspection. Tiexiong Xinsha also relies on independent intellectual property rights and provincial-level technology centers to carry out industry university research cooperation with universities such as Lanzhou University and Shandong University, focusing on intelligent control of coking, ultra-low emission control, and deep processing of coke oven gas.

From safety production to energy utilization, from equipment management to business decision-making, Zhongrong Xinda's digitalization practice is gradually integrating with green manufacturing. The digital technology not only improves production efficiency, but also provides new tools for enterprises to further reduce resource consumption, enhance risk management capabilities, and optimize operational efficiency.

From single point transformation to system capability, the sustainable development of traditional industries is entering a deeper level

For traditional industrial enterprises, green transformation is not simply about increasing environmental investment, but requires integrating resource efficiency, risk management, production efficiency, and long-term business capabilities into the same development logic.

Zhongrong Xinda has included cost reduction, energy conservation, inventory activation and other indicators in the monthly rigid assessment, forming a management loop through "deployment implementation supervision improvement", transforming energy conservation, consumption reduction and business improvement from phased actions into a sustainable management mechanism.

At the same time, digitization is also beginning to extend towards product quality and market side. Jurun Building Materials implements digital control over the entire glass production process, monitors key parameters online, and further improves production process stability and product quality consistency. Jurun brand glass has been exported to overseas markets such as Ethiopia.

Facing the "Tenth Five Year Plan", Zhongrong plans to build an industrial Internet platform, further deepen the application of digital intelligence technology in the whole chain of production and operation, improve the integrated management of industry and finance, promote energy conservation and emission reduction and lean cost control, and continue to consolidate the advantages of coking and glass industries.

In 2026, Zhongrong Xinda was selected as a "2026 Outstanding Financial Enterprise · Annual Outstanding Sustainable Development Enterprise" case by the Economic Observer based on its practice in digital transformation, green manufacturing, and sustainable development. Starting from the production site of traditional industries, Zhongrong New University is exploring an industrial upgrading path that combines digitalization to improve management efficiency, greening to reduce resource consumption, and incorporating safety, cost, quality, and environmental protection into the long-term business system. For traditional industries such as energy and chemical engineering, glass and building materials, this systematic transformation from production factors to management mechanisms is also becoming an important component of building long-term competitiveness for enterprises.
