The boundary model jointly created by Yu Chengdong and Zhang Xinghai is undergoing a "second evolution"

From 0 to 1.2 million, Wenjie only took less than five years. In five years, a high-end intelligent electric vehicle brand has gone from birth to millions of users, which is almost unprecedented in the history of traditional luxury cars.

So, public opinion began to pay attention. The focus first fell on the recently announced shift towards "exclusive exclusivity" by Wanjie. As soon as the news came out, various doubts flooded in. This is not difficult to understand. When faced with a new phenomenon beyond experience, people's first reaction is often vigilance, and their second reaction is attribution. Vigilance is instinct, accountability is rationality. However, we should not hastily draw conclusions.

On September 30th, amidst the heated public discussion, the signing ceremony for the strategic cooperation upgrade of Hongmeng Zhixing Wenjie's business was held in Shenzhen. Yu Chengdong, Executive Director of Huawei, Director of the Product Investment Review Committee, and Chairman of Terminal BG, as well as Zhang Xinghai, Chairman (Founder) of Serys Group, attended the signing ceremony.

Huawei and Seres have stated that in the new five years, both parties will continue to anchor the core positioning of the high-end intelligent car brand in Wenjie, jointly establish a dedicated team for Wenjie business, further upgrade Wenjie business, better serve Wenjie users with exclusive franchise, and continue to promote the upward development of Wenjie's new luxury Hua brand. Both parties are committed to bringing users more ultimate high-end intelligent electric vehicle products and higher quality travel experiences, further promoting the high-quality development of China's automotive industry, and creating a benchmark brand for China's new luxury intelligent vehicles.

This latest development provides the most direct footnote to the discussion of "exclusive monopoly": it is not a separation, but an upgrade and deepening of cooperation between both parties. So, how do you understand this upgrade? Let's examine each of the five levels one by one.

Fact

When discussing "exclusive franchise", we should first acknowledge three things positively.

Firstly, from the perspective of industry rules, high-end brands require exclusive channel systems to undertake brand tone, service standards, and user operations. Choosing exclusive franchise in Wenjie is not deviating from the industry, but returning to industry rules.

Secondly, since the birth of Wanjie, the entire vehicle has been manufactured by Wanjie, users have been served by Wanjie, and the responsibility for the entire lifecycle has been borne by Wanjie. This means that the responsibility of the brand has always been with Seres, and exclusive exclusivity has not changed the underlying responsibility of user services.

Thirdly, after five years of cultivation, there are already 400 exclusive user centers nationwide; Sailis has over 10000 R&D engineers, accounting for 43% of the total number of employees, and has formed a sound talent team. These numbers indicate that Wenjie has the ability to support exclusive sales.

Root

Wenjie is the first and currently the only high-end brand in the HarmonyOS system to achieve sales exceeding one million.

Zhang Xinghai, Chairman (Founder) of Xilis Group, made it very clear during an interview on CCTV Finance's "Micro Dialogue" program: "The number of users in Wenjie has exceeded 1.2 million, entering a new stage of brand growth. The system needs to be upgraded synchronously with market changes, resources need to be focused, and division of labor needs to be optimized

In other words, when a brand has only tens of thousands of users, it can grow in other people's channels; When a brand has 1.2 million users, it needs its own showroom, service team, and user operation system.

Zhang Xinghai mentioned that exclusive sales are also a positive response to user expectations. In multiple direct communication with users, everyone hopes that the exclusive user center of Wanjie can "do more, do better" and provide exclusive services throughout the entire lifecycle. The exclusive franchise of Wenjie is a natural progression, which not only conforms to the development laws of the brand, but also actively responds to user needs.

From the user's perspective, exclusive exclusivity means a more focused service experience. Exclusive stores, exclusive service teams, and exclusive brand operations, which are difficult to achieve in the mixed sales model, now have room for implementation in the exclusive sales model.

Innovation

In response to the misinterpretation of the relationship between Xilinx and Huawei by the outside world, Zhang Xinghai emphasized that the exclusive franchise of Wanjie is not a separation, but another innovation of the cross-border integration model between the two sides.

In 2021, when Serys and Huawei teamed up to build the world from scratch, there was no ready-made model to draw on. Over the past five years, Wenjie has verified the feasibility of this cross-border integration business model.

Zhang Xinghai said, "I would like to sincerely thank Huawei from beginning to end. In the entire business chain of production, supply, marketing, research and development, Seres and Huawei have built a complete system capability together... Over the past five years, the two sides have worked together to achieve multiple industry firsts and overcome many impossible challenges

Nowadays, in the Hongmeng Zhixing brand system, Wenjie has taken the lead in the next stage: jointly forming a Wenjie business exclusive team. This is not only a confirmation of the achievements of the past five years of cooperation, but also an exploration of future forms of cooperation (how to achieve more efficient division of labor after the brand matures).

Zhang Xinghai emphasized that the question boundary is Huawei's question boundary, Sailis' question boundary, and more importantly, the user's question boundary. Sailis will continue to stand shoulder to shoulder with Huawei, building good cars with dedication and serving every user well.

Unchanged

Faced with the most concerning issue of rights for over 1.2 million users, Zhang Xinghai condensed it into "three ironclad things".

Firstly, the product standards remain unchanged. Wanjie adheres to the "Five Highs" standards of high safety, high reliability, high performance, high quality, and high value, and is firmly committed to creating high-end intelligent electric vehicles with a dual paradigm of "technology paradigm+luxury paradigm".

Secondly, the technical foundation remains unchanged. The intelligent driving and cockpit will continue to be provided by Huawei, and Serys is a shareholder of Huawei Yinwang. Yinwang's new and good products will be applied to the Wanjie car as soon as possible.

Thirdly, the service remains unchanged and needs to be upgraded. All OTA upgrades and user rights will not change, and existing 1.2 million users will be treated equally with new car buyers in the future.

Zhang Xinghai stated that there is no room for ambiguity in user rights, and the services provided by Wanjie will be upgraded. The brand will strive to improve, and in the future, we will only strive to make our cars better, let time prove it.

Precede

A debate about "exclusive monopoly" is about to end, and we realize that what everyone really wants to talk about is not the specific changes in the operation of the industry itself.

It's like a patient entering the emergency room with their stomach covered. The doctor examined their ribs for a long time and said, 'The bones are fine.'. The patient shouted, 'What hurts me is my stomach!' This truly throbbing 'stomach' is called trust in innovative pioneers.

Let's be more straightforward in our words. If the cooperation between Huawei and Cyrus today goes completely according to external expectations, will there be criticism that there is no differentiation in the industry? In the eyes of some people, no matter what the pioneers do, they are always wrong.

Looking back at the history of China's automotive industry, every model innovation has been accompanied by similar doubts. When Geely acquired Volvo, some people said, 'Snakes swallow elephants, indigestion.'. Back then, BYD was all in new energy, and some people said it was a 'bend over'. But these pioneers have proven themselves with results.

Wenjie is walking the same path. The Chinese automotive industry is currently in a critical sprint period from a "big car country" to a "strong car country". In this process, someone needs to constantly step out of their comfort zone and explore paths that do not have ready-made answers. And Wenjie has always been a pioneer in the innovation of automotive industry models. Its new round of experiments deserves encouragement from the outside world.
