Balby stated that the direct and indirect losses caused by the drought in France in 2022 are approximately 5.6 billion euros, which does not include social and economic costs such as damage to the tourism industry and health issues. At present, due to the ongoing extreme heat weather this year, the final losses are still difficult to accurately estimate. According to preliminary estimates from the French National Institute of Statistics and Economic Research,The direct and indirect economic losses caused by this summer's heatwave may reach 10 to 15 billion euros。
