Economic Observation Network According to the CCTV News app, researchers recently announced the discovery of a new monkey species in the jungles of central eastern Democratic Republic of Congo. This monkey is named the Congo wart monkey, and its unique orange lips are its most prominent feature.

The research team stated that given the small distribution range and population size of this monkey, as well as the expected impacts of increased hunting pressure and habitat changes, it is recommended to preliminarily classify the species as "endangered" on the International Union for Conservation of Nature Red List, and call on the government of the Democratic Republic of Congo to strengthen protection of its main habitat, Lomami National Park.
