Ms. Li, the mother of the child, said that at around 12:30 pm on August 24th, in order to breastfeed, nursing staff pushed the child from their own room into the nursery. At 13:10, she learned that the child was already in the ambulance. The medical record shows that the child was found to have no breathing or heartbeat and was sent to the hospital. At 14:30, the child was declared clinically dead.

The father of the child stated that he watched surveillance footage and found that in the nursery, nursing staff fed the child multiple times, causing the child to vomit. The child's face turned dark and there was no response throughout the body. The nursing staff had engaged in behaviors such as patting the back, pinching the nose, and bouncing hands and feet. The family suspected that the child died after choking on milk.

The legal representative of the confinement center stated that it is not due to respiratory and cardiac arrest during breastfeeding, but rather the underlying disease of diarrhea in the child, which is not related to the confinement center. But neither party was able to provide surveillance videos to reporters.

Ms. Li recalled that in April of this year, she signed an agreement with the confinement center for a 30 day service fee of 18000 yuan.

Ms. Li stated that she actually started staying at the confinement center on August 22nd. According to Ms. Li, in the confinement center, the mother and child are in separate rooms, and the child's sleep is monitored in real-time. When feeding, changing diapers, or taking a shower, the child is pushed to a dedicated nursery by staff, and family members are unable to accompany, watch, or monitor in real-time.

On August 23rd, the child was sent to the hospital due to acute gastroenteritis and later returned to the center. According to the group chat records, on the morning of August 24th, the staff reported the previous night's care: 5 feedings of 45 milliliters each time, normal body temperature at night, and 7 bowel movements. The father of the child asked if his bowel movements were normal, and the staff said that he had frequent bowel movements.

According to the outpatient medical records, at around 12:58, a call was received from the 120 center. A newborn at the confinement center had no breathing or heartbeat. At 13:00, the hospital contacted the caller by phone, stating that the child was no longer breathing. At 13:7, the hospital drove to the scene and staff picked up the child from the back seat of a small car. At that time, the child's limbs naturally drooped, there was no crying, and the exposed skin was cyanotic.

On the ambulance, there was no breathing, no heart sounds, no carotid pulsation, and the limbs were cold. The foreign body in the mouth was immediately removed, and milk was found in the mouth. Tracheal intubation is performed to extract a small amount of milk like substance from the endotracheal tube. The family requested to continue active rescue and, upon instructions, agreed to return to the hospital for further treatment. With the assistance of the police, they left the scene at 13:53 on the same day and were later transported to the emergency room. They were pronounced clinically dead at 14:30.

The person in charge of Shawan Street in Panyu District confirmed to reporters that the street intervened immediately after the incident and organized two formal coordination sessions between the two sides. At present, both parties are waiting for the forensic report. Before the results are available, the street will try to mediate as much as possible.

Ms. Li stated that the child has undergone an autopsy and the family is currently waiting for the forensic report and death certificate provided by the forensic expert.

On September 12th, Mr. Xie, the legal representative of Guangzhou Nuan Yue Maternal and Child Care Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of the confinement center, told reporters that the child has underlying diseases. The reporter asked about the underlying disease and claimed that the child was already experiencing diarrhea when they checked in. The next day, they went to the hospital and later took medication, resulting in diarrhea and dehydration.

Mr. Xie believes that this matter has nothing to do with the confinement center. "We will make a final decision after the police station issues the results, and we have no basis at the moment. We respect and handle the issue in accordance with the law and regulations

According to the documents presented by Ms. Li, on August 24th, she reported that nursing staff member Chen was suspected of causing death due to negligence. The Shawan Police Station of Panyu Branch of Guangzhou Public Security Bureau was charged on August 25th.

In addition, the relevant departments of Panyu Public Security Bureau issued a special procedure handling notice on September 4th, indicating that they have received a request from the public security organs to investigate the criminal cases of Guangzhou Nuan Yue Maternal and Child Care Co., Ltd. and related directly responsible personnel suspected of causing death by negligence and major liability accidents in accordance with the law. The relevant matters have been transferred to Shawan Police Station for handling in accordance with the legal procedures.

The claim made by the confinement center that the baby has underlying illnesses has been denied by the family and their legal representative. They stated that the baby sought medical attention on August 23rd only due to common gastrointestinal discomfort such as soft stool and diarrhea, and there is no possibility of death from this symptom.

According to Ms. Li, after six years of marriage, she became pregnant with her husband and had a green light for prenatal check ups. She gave birth to a 6.9 pound baby at full term. However, she hasn't even taken a photo with her daughter yet and has been thinking about waiting until the wound is less painful before taking another one.
