Economic Observation Network According to CCTV News App, British pop singer Doua Lipa recently sued South Korean company Samsung Electronics for using her photos without permission to promote televisions, infringing on her portrait rights and other rights, and seeking compensation of $15 million from Samsung.
This lawsuit was submitted to a federal district court in California, USA on the 8th. The lawsuit states that a Samsung TV packaging box has a personal photo of Lipa printed on the front. This photo was taken at a performance held by Lipa in the United States in 2024, and she holds all relevant rights to the photo.
Lipa's lawyer said that Lipa became aware of Samsung's alleged infringement in June 2025 and demanded that Samsung stop using the photo, but was repeatedly refused by Samsung.
The lawsuit also includes screenshots of social media posts and comments to prove that some consumers chose to purchase this TV out of their love for Lipa.
Lipa's lawyer pointed out that Samsung's behavior has led consumers to mistakenly believe that Lipa approves and supports related products, and has already and will continue to "dilute" the brand image and commercial reputation of this popular singer.
A spokesperson for Samsung Electronics declined to comment, stating that the company is unable to comment on the pending lawsuit.
