The oil and gas industry in China has a wide range of stations, complex methane emission sources, and prominent problems such as inconsistent monitoring methods and incomplete traceability systems, which restrict the orderly progress of precise methane control and emission in the industry.
This standard is the first to establish an integrated methane emission monitoring technology system that covers the entire chain of oil and gas production and is traceable. The system standardizes key aspects such as monitoring level division, monitoring method selection, equipment selection and calibration, and data quality control, filling the gap in China's onshore oil and gas field methane emission monitoring standard series.This standard not only provides a unified technical basis for methane control and emission in the domestic oil and gas industry, but also provides important Chinese technical references for methane control and emission in the global oil and gas industry. It has important strategic significance for overall safeguarding of national energy security and promoting the green and low-carbon transformation and development of the oil and gas industry.
At present, this standard has been validated and applied in multiple central enterprises such as China Petroleum, Sinopec, and State Grid Corporation of China. It will provide solid technical support for the oil and gas industry to achieve national independent contribution goals and solidly promote the greenhouse gas emission reduction task during the 15th Five Year Plan period.
