Once the dramas are put on hold, the producers will bear high sunk costs, and the artists may face the risk of over 230 million yuan in salary refunds. Rumors of old surrogacy have once again been brought up by public opinion, and all results are waiting for the court's judgment.

On August 27th, Zhang Qihuai, representing Sun Yuchen and Beijing Lanpeng Law Firm, was interviewed by Phoenix Entertainment and responded to key issues such as case jurisdiction, procedural progress, main demands, and legal application of dowry return.

Phoenix Entertainment: Hello Lawyer Zhang, thank you for accepting the interview. Firstly, I would like to confirm in which court Mr. Sun Yuchen's lawsuit against Jing Tian and her parents is currently being filed?

Zhang Qihuai: It was filed in the People's Court of Yanta District, Xi'an City.

Phoenix Entertainment: We have noticed that the defendant has raised an objection to jurisdiction, is it regarding territorial jurisdiction or hierarchical jurisdiction? What are the reasons for objection?

Zhang Qihuai: The defendant raised an objection to territorial jurisdiction.

Phoenix Entertainment: When is the expected ruling on jurisdictional objections?

Zhang Qihuai: Soon, not too long, it will end within a month.

Phoenix Entertainment: When is it expected that the case will enter the substantive trial stage after the jurisdiction objection ruling? Is there a court schedule currently available?

Zhang Qihuai: There is currently no schedule for the court hearing.

Phoenix Entertainment: Has the court made a ruling on the property preservation application made by the plaintiff?

Zhang Qihuai: The preservation has been applied for, but the court has not yet made a ruling.

Phoenix Entertainment: You previously confirmed to the media that the nature of the more than 30 million yuan involved in the case is a "dowry". Is the main lawsuit request in the indictment to return the dowry? Are there any other demands besides this?

Zhang Qihuai: The lawsuit request is to return the dowry, which is over 30 million yuan. There are currently no other demands.

Phoenix Entertainment: Does the indictment involve the rumored issue of "surrogacy" on the internet?

Zhang Qihuai: Surrogacy is also a fact, but it is not mentioned in our lawsuit request now.

Phoenix Entertainment: Why wasn't surrogacy included as a lawsuit request?

Zhang Qihuai: Let's first solve the issue of returning the dowry. Surrogacy is an objective fact, but currently in legal terms, we choose to focus on the core demand of returning the dowry.

Phoenix Entertainment: What is the form of the dowry payment of over 30 million yuan?

Zhang Qihuai: All transactions are made through bank transfers. Sun Yuchen requested to transfer the funds to Jing Tian and Jing Tian's parents' accounts through his parents' transfer. The transfer recipient is mainly Jing Tian's father, supplemented by Jing Tian and Jing Tian's mother.

Phoenix Entertainment: Why is this money classified as a "dowry" rather than a loan or gift?

Zhang Qihuai: The nature is quite clear, it is neither a loan nor a gift. The two have already discussed marriage and their parents have met.

Phoenix Entertainment: How long have Sun Yuchen and Jing Tian been together?

Zhang Qihuai: About seven months, but they have reached the point of discussing marriage. Both parents have met, and the money is also paid on the premise of the engagement.

Phoenix Entertainment will continue to monitor the follow-up progress. For the sued Jing Tianfang, their studio has stated that they will not respond except for the progress of rights protection. The three pending dramas ("Waiting for Me to Wake Up", "Dragon Bone Burning Box", and "Tongxin Jie") have all been reviewed or certified.
