Changes in the Sugar Market

In late October 2026, the domestic sugar market will show a structural adjustment trend. According to data from the China Sugar Association, as of the end of July, the national sugar industry inventory was about 3.72 million tons, at a historical high, and inventory in some production areas reached an 11 year high. Downstream processing enterprises are becoming more cautious in procurement, and traders are shifting to on-demand ordering. At the same time, the news of India suspending some purchases of sugar based ethanol has pushed up international expectations for far month sugar prices. The contrast between high domestic inventory and tight international supply expectations has led to the continuation of market competition.
