Shi Yonggang's new work 'End of Life' explores dignified death
The book 'End of Life' will be published by People's Literature Publishing House in July 2026. The book breaks away from simply presenting the narrative of suffering and explores the dignity of life and the philosophy of a good ending. The book analyzes the pathological mechanism and physical and mental difficulties of cancer pain, pointing out that due to traditional concepts and technological abuse, late stage patients often suffer from the pain caused by ineffective interventions. The author emphasizes the importance of respecting the natural process of life and clarifying medical wishes and autonomy through advance directives. The work advocates for the promotion of palliative care and calls for the use of standardized medication and emotional companionship to help patients achieve a "death oriented" state under rational arrangements.
