Volkswagen and Horizon officially announce L3 and L4 cooperation, L3 level self driving plan to be delivered in the second half of 2027, Robotaxi plan to be promoted synchronously
On July 22nd, Volkswagen China and Horizon announced that their joint venture company, Carizon, will quickly build a unified AI driving solution for Volkswagen in China based on a white box authorization model, promoting independent research and development of L3 and L4 level autonomous driving technology. According to the plan, Volkswagen Group's first L3 level autonomous driving solution will be launched and delivered as early as the second half of 2027. The cooperation is based on the Horizon AI base model, which will collaborate with the system level chip C7H under development by Core Cheng and the GAIA World Model Data Platform to achieve complete end-to-end autonomous driving solution development, promote the landing of Volkswagen Group's L3 and L4 autonomous driving capabilities, and serve as the technological foundation for future passenger cars and autonomous taxis (Robotaxis). The first advanced driving assistance system of Core Cheng has been delivered by the end of 2025, equipped with high-speed intelligent driving function and memory parking capability, and will be installed in the Youzhong 07 and the new Youzhong 06; At present, advanced assisted driving solutions that support urban scenarios have also entered mass production, and will be installed in seven new electrified models of three joint ventures in the third quarter of this year. Starting next year, they will be expanded to multiple models built by Volkswagen based on the CEA architecture.
