International gold prices fell nearly 30% in half a year

In the first half of 2026, international gold prices plummeted from a historical high of $5627 to below $4000, a drop of nearly 30%. Geopolitical conflicts, expectations of interest rate hikes, and a slowdown in central bank gold purchases have jointly exerted pressure, but the easing of inflation has brought about a slight rebound. Experts believe that short-term irrational declines are limited, and long-term support is still present.
