Sodium electricity enters the field of computational energy storage
In 2026, sodium ion batteries will be included in the bidding list for energy storage in the "East Digital West Computing" computing power park for the first time, competing on the same platform as lithium iron phosphate batteries. Driven by the policies of the four national departments, sodium batteries have emerged in the western region with advantages such as low temperature resistance and independent and controllable raw materials. However, due to the tight production capacity and supply chain of hard carbon negative electrodes, many enterprises choose small capacity pilot projects. The current strategy of "mainly using lithium batteries and piloting sodium batteries" is steadily advancing the verification of new technologies, marking a crucial step forward for China's new energy storage.
